Java 7 support with Retrolambda

Is it possible to port the gradle plugins that require Java 8 to 7 with Retrolambda?

what would be the point? what is wrong with needing Java 8 to build (not run) smali?

It isn't a problem for build but an user wasn't able to "run" it.
