How to safely change phone number of an account

I have an account that has been using SDA for several years now....unfortunately, the mobile provider that provided the number used in the setup process is having their contract terminated by the government soon....I wanted to change the phone number from steam account settings page, but feared that this is going to mess SDA somehow .......is there a proper procedure for changing the number?

When you go to change your phone number, you have multiple options

You will not be able to do it via the mobile auth option because SDA is broken. You'll probably want to do it via sms (the first option).

@dyc3 thank you for answering what about Steam Desktop Authenticator and ma files.....will they be affected? or do I need to setup up SDA again like a new account?

Nope, it'll just change your phone number.
