Before I duplicate effort, anyone mind if I take a crack at this? Trying to get more familiar with Spinal's innards and this seems pretty reasonable and useful for folks.

I'm a bit confused as this isn't a plugin, it's a standalone python program. I don't actually own/have access to any windows computers, so I'll try to help troubleshoot, but...

@mizraith: This isn't a kicad bom exporter, it's a standalone application that directly reads/writes kicad schematics. Just launch it by itself, then open your top-level schematic file using file->open.
