I just re-saved them and they went into the correct state ("past"). So they're on the site now. Doesn't explain why your page is breaking though - some other data...
re: the staging thing, this was more about ensuring (just before launching) that it all builds successfully - I've seen a properly staged version then fail to deploy for unknown...
I'd like to do a write-up of how the app was written, would be a really good resource. The only thing holding me back is time... will hopefully get to...
