Smart backspace breaks IntelliSense

When smart backspace is left to the default keybinding of backspace, IntelliSense suggestions no longer appear while backspacing.

The obvious quick fix is to remap the extension.smartBackspace command to a different keybinding, but wondering if this can be fixed while keeping it set to just backspace?
