Davis Courthouse Soundproofing

Open ceeeeX opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

What happened?

The Courthouse on Davis Avenue has an issue where sounds outside of the Courthouse are very audible and loud, which are disruptive to court. The gas station & house robbery alarms are able to be heard within the Courthouse, disrupting potential cases and drowning out any testimonies or arguments being made. Additionally, the alarms go on for a decent amount of time which puts court on hold until the alarm is disabled by officers/deputies when they arrive on scene.

The Courthouse additionally has a problem where individuals on the bottom floor can hear Court, Shout Voices, and gunshots and vice versa as well. The Courthouse may be best served to have soundproofing so that proceedings are not to be heard on the first floor and so that court is not hearing people on the ground floor as well.

The two locations are within the images below: Courthouse First Floor

Expected result

Court should not be able to hear people on the first floor, and people on the first floor should not be able to hear Court Voice/Shout Voice from upstairs. Court should also not be able to hear gas station/house robberies alarms.

Reproduction steps

  1. Enter Courthouse First Floor
  2. Shout
  3. See that it can be heard on the 7th floor
  4. Go upstairs to Courthouse 7th floor
  5. Court/Shout
  6. See that it can be heard on the first floor
  7. If you wait long enough, gas stations, house robbery alarms, and gunshots can be heard through the building on 7th floor.
