Service messages notifying incorrect participants
What happened?
For the last couple of months, users have been getting text messages from DW. People are getting messages when they're not clocked, don't work for dw, or even have requested anything from DW. as a DW employee this gets annoying VERY quickly as we're constantly having to tell people not to even click on those messages. This issue happens at random and is not consistent.
Expected result
Only recieve DW messages when you start a thread or when you're clocked into DW
Reproduction steps
- Have someone send a message
- Do not be clocked in or be the author of the original thread
- See Error.
Importancy
There's a workaround

DOJ also had this issue, however it hasn't happened recently.
Okay so this has been a pain for a long time, I'm curious:

20:43:02: 902-440-4261 (Smokey_) sent a message to 111-402-7602: alr

20:44:23: 902-440-4261 (Smokey_) sent a message to 111-402-7602: they are not coming to help you they are coming to help me
When ActuallyCopper says "i dont need help" did this user receive the initial notification of "Okay, OMW. Please be wait. Coming all the way from DW !" or did they only see the conversation after Smokey_ had said "alr"?
This was from a while ago so I don't know if these people will be able to remember, basically, can you try and answer this question @DustinGG @x4sq so I can narrow down where this is going wrong (it's a big rabbit hole).
From my personal experience when I've gotten texts from DW, (when I'm not clocked in) it's usually coming from someone requesting roadside or other information (in this case (Smokey_)). I've seen it maybe once or twice where it comes from a DW employee responding (HUNT3R), the majority of the time (from what I can recall), it's typically the normal civ texting that comes through.
To kind of help narrow this down for you as well, the conversation does NOT appear in the messages app at any time, this simply occurs from users seeing the notification (the drop down from the top of the phone) and clicks it to open the thread.
If you need me to explain it differently or would rather talk about it, you can find me on discord (EA-32 Dustin), don't know if that'll help you at all.

Okay good to know. Would still be interesting to note if the first notification they see is the initial conversation message, or once the conversation has been replied to.
Will keep an eye out, also posted this info in Mechanic Discussion on Discord in case anyone else has info on this or sees it happening. Will keep you posted if someone let's me know.
Can confirm what @DustinGG said, it never actually appears in the messages list, you just get the notification and once your in you can respond. When this happens, it appears as a new chat would, so you can't read message history or anything.

I've never had it notify on someone responding. It's always usually the initial message, and then you keep getting notifications once you click onto it.
This can lead to some pretty funny situations though
Ive just received this issue. Im gonna attach a log file and a clip. Mine was with EMS
Name: James Michaels Notes: Was previously clocked into PD CitizenFX_log_2024-05-27T184409.log

Just got an EMS one, seems to be from a normal civ requesting ems
This is from me, all the previous messages are from weeks/months ago:
