rl-visible-xx break Grid in Vaadin 8

I hava a grid in a two-col row. I want the column to hide under certain circumstances and to show back. As soon as the rs-visible-xx css class is set on the col containing my grid, the last col header spans over the row below it. If this class is not there, it's all working fine.

Any suggestion on where to look so I can try to fix this issue?

it mighty using rl-hidden-xxx along with rl-visible-xxx on the opposite sizes
