Layers not updating when selecting an object

What are you trying to do, and what do you expect to happen?

[In Paint mode] I select an object in the outliner, and I want the layers list associated with the texture to update.

What happens instead?

The layers list doesn't update, it stays to what it was previously selected. If I want my layers to appear I have to select the texture manually in the texture list.
