Recording/Listening device not working
I have installed the software as per instructions given ..and have arrived on the final terminal screen which says " Configure .........Hotkey"
Have configured hotkey.......name is : Voice:
command is /home/Documents/Palaver-master/hotkey
but when i press the combination which is the same as shown in tutorials " Ctrl + L" ...nothing happens ....no green icon... no recorder icon......have tried speaking with keys pressed ...no response ....
the output and input mics are working fine have checked them through Audacity and skype .....
please help.......

Does the program work manually, by typing ./hotkey once , then talking, then typing ./hotkey again when finished?

nope ......i tried doing that in terminal...i got a variety of messages .....
first I cd to the folder ( i put my folder in Documents)
ninja@SmilingBudha:~$ cd ~/Documents/Palaver-master ninja@SmilingBudha:~/Documents/Palaver-master$ ./hotkey
each time i tried i got a diff msges ....they are given below.....
rm: cannot remove ‘pycmd_*’: No such file or directory Speech unable to be transcribed. No Command recognized. Speech unable to be transcribed.
Oh but i noticed one thing happens......
while the " Ctrl + L" elicits absolutely no response ....the terminal ./hotkey option creates an microphone icon on the top notification bar...but thats it .., .....but beyond that no response ......the icon changes no color , does not pop put ...i tried clicking on it it generates three options in a drop down menu
install a plugin Restart Server Quit
Hmm, have you restarted since you installed?

I use google hangouts for that, they are part of google+. I am in California, pacific time, or UTC-8

Hey!
This might be useful, there is bug around in 13.04 version , the sound recorder does not function.....did some searching on the net a lot of 13.04 users have reported this ...but have not seen any solution on any forums ....perhaps that could be a reason for the software not working .......

as per vid when we type this in terminal - sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.comf
a text window with some code should appear however in my case its a just blank document so may be thats why...dont really know what to do...
was counting on this app to help with my robotics experiment :(..its linux based ....else will have to shift to windows to run the robot and Run Dragon Speech on it ..... ..but then Windows for Robots is another set of NIghtmare ....
I am a non technical person...who has a technical hobby ! ...wish i paid more attention in school... its frustrating ...think I will go and learn how to code so that I can understand all that's being written in digital world !

hello, I just installed Palaver on ubuntu 13.04 and 13.10, I read the readme.txt, installed all programs. But Palaver do not want to work, it always looks (speech recognition necks). I've create the shortcut (ctrl+l) .... Can you help me? Excuse me for the mistakes, I'm French. thank you
I don't believe palaver supports french right now, how did you setup the language?

Well, do you have a file ~/.palaver.d/UserInfo , if so can you show me it's contents.

Palaver stops has voice recognition. Palaver always search. I've tested my microphone with google voice ace, and it work fine. Have you any idea?

the name is .conf not .comf
Hi, I have the same problem that chrisrip has. I've done all the installation with no problem. At the end of the setup, I install the plugins and at the prompt I can see: :~/Palaver-master$ nohup: se añade la salida a «nohup.out»
Then I do the shortcut with CTL+L and nothing happens when I use it.
And if I do it in the terminal I have:

I have same problem like others - my hotkey wont work. I do everything as u say, but naaah.. no luck ;x i can run "./hotkey" in terminal, and it work, but my key combo /Ctr + K/ don`t. Any Ideas ? !

I encounter similar problems in both Ubuntu 13.10 as well as 14.04. After i have set the hotekey and try starting Palaver using the same hotkey Palaver doesn't fire up. However, after running the command ./hotkey from terminal the notification widget does show up. After i say a command present in the dictionary and press the above command again it goes into an infinite loop with the command "Performing recognition" on the widget. :(

I have installed Palavar-Master in Ubuntu 12.04. and set up the short cut also. when pressed the shortcut, microphone icon opens in green and records fine.
But after that it is not able to recognize the speech. Ex. If I say "Open Documents" after some time of processing the notification shows "Speech Unable to be transcribed"
Please let me know what could be the problem with it and how could I resolve it.
