I'd like an equivalent to the volume module but for the microphone, for showing the mic status and right clicking to disable it for example.

I guess it's better improving the "Volume" module then making a new one

Possibly, but it might be slightly easier to setup if it's a different module, there are some slight tradeoffs, I don't think it matters much either way

The source (mic) support isn't exhaustive: it doesn't show the MIC's state (muted/unmuted) on the bar: field format can't show it.
