Why do i get just a not responding Gray square instead of launcher ?

Hello, Please ensure that Steam is running and that the currently logged in Steam account owns DayZ. Let me know if this fixes your issue.

took forever to figure out it starts minimized, but when I try and open the window, its just a black window. Any help?? or is this abandoned?

steam is running and this steam account owns dayz, yes.
