Suggest "pay what you want" for commercial usage

Open tobiasdiez opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

This is somewhat of a duplication of the donation page, but the idea is that if someone looks for "is jabref free for commercial use?" then they get the answer "yes, but we suggest you pay a bit since you generate profit from the usage".

I noticed, in the meantime, that, on the page https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/wiki/Donations, the link to the imprint (https://www.jabref.org/impressum.html) leads to a 404 error.

And, on https://www.jabref.org/, there is no link to the Legal Notices and the Privacy Policy.

We should discuss this more in deep. Keep in mind that we are non profit organization.

Would you mind expanding why you see this as a problem? Call for money (in what ever form) is pretty common for non-profit, or not? We would of course only use the money to support the development of JabRef, and not to pay our CEO millions ;-)

Thanks! I was planing to setup a new donations page in the near future that should address this as well (https://github.com/JabRef/JabRefOnline/issues/1464 and https://github.com/JabRef/JabRefOnline/issues/2010).
