JabRef version

Latest development branch build (please note build date below)

Operating system

GNU / Linux

Details on version and operating system

Debian Linux, i3 wm, JabRef 5.16

Checked with the latest development build (copy version output from About dialog)

  • [X] I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
  • [X] I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

  1. Open library, select a group that has so many entries they do not fill the whole window (there must be some empty rows seen)
  2. Place the mouse cursor over any of the elements in the empty row
  3. A tooltip will appear

I cannot reproduce this under mac, there it does not show a tooltip for an empty row

I can reproduce this error under Kubuntu 24.04, kde plasma, Jabref 5.15:

Screenshot_paper-list-tooltip

Maybe this is somehow related to the group tooltip Problem, since the tooltip shown here for an empty entry seems to be a tooltip belonging to some column for some entry in the opened databases. while in the group tooltip problem it is the description given for some other group (maybe also for some open database.)

I can reproduce the issue in the most recent 5.16 builds.

Still not reproducible under mac. Needs investigation why it only applies to Windows/linux

Hi, I am Yash Shukla working with @LinusDietz for King's College London. I have a Windows OS too , so judging by the comments I would be suited to complete this task. Thanks!
