spent hours get to run on Pi3B+: last issue: No Gauges... No BT connection
Hey Folks!
Great Project... I got issues with the connection of the ELM327 on a Rapsberry Pi3B+.... Tried a lot of things an visited other threads about connecting a Bluetooth OBD adapter to the pi... checked with bluetoothctl: device is paired an trusted.... but on the LED´s of it i can see that there is no connection....
It´s paired but i´m getting no connection to it. Because of that i always get the " finfishing gauge sync" message.....
I used new Raspbian Buster install script, WIFI DHCP is working .... was a lot of work, but for now im stuck... it really kick´s my.... :(
Perhaps somebody can tell how the adapter is bind in as serial device.... I don´t have the experience to see how u implemented the data to be visible....
I only found out that the raprec service is listening on rfcomm0.... so stopping the service makes me able to use command "sudo rfcomm bind rfcomm0 <MAC ADRESS>" just to listen to it by the screen programm....
Help would be appreciated.... Thanks and greeting from Germany Awesome Project!
I just startet a setup again from the beginning and I had less problems with pairing and setting up DHCP Server. Worked like charm this time.... don't know why...
But i still got same problem with getting no data for gauges...
The Adapter got the LED ' s showing it's status and if I type "sudo systemctl restart raprec.service" in console I see the Link LED flashing and OBD Data to... just for 2 seconds.... Red one is Power an always on of course...
Because of this it is not a problem with pairing... All done properly...
What to do now? Thanks
I wasn't able to get it to work with bluetooth either. That was one reason why it upgraded to buster. I too managed to manually pair and was able to talk to the car using the at command against the elm adaptor. I'd guess an say the application needs fixing, as I even manually put the bluetooth device in the DB, but this didn't work either. I'm not sure if the original developer is still active. I've enabled issues on my fork.
@stormanimal83 Did you use my fork to build your installation?
I have the RPi3B also and was struggling with bluetooth. I disabled the internal wifi and am using an edimax USB wifi dongle. Im using a usb thumb drive for the vids directory and I enabled the overlay filesystem and I started getting data on the dashboard. No idea why but I thought Id mention it in case it helps someone.
Not fully sure of the implications of the read-only FS for mariadb but I rebooted the car and the rpi a few times and Im getting data each time.
I am stuck with the same issue. I cannot pair with the BT device, so no guages are there, and also the cam doesn't show recording. Any help?
