Annoying pauses seem to occur with DOS games in VDMs that use VBE/VESA display modes
Hey, so I noticed while trying to play the DOS version of Duke Nukem 3D and WinQuake, both of which use VBE/VESA modes, there are some really annoying delays in the video output that make both games unplayable. The only way I was able to resolve the former was by changing the graphics driver to the stock VGA driver that Windows 9x comes with in the device manager and then setting it back afterwards. As for the latter I was able to use a command line switch that disables the VBE/VESA modes and just uses DirectDraw in Windows. I'm afraid Blood might suffer from the same problem as well since it's also a Build engine game like Duke3D. I would really like to see these problems fixed because SoftGPU has helped make DOS gaming in VMware a bit more viable than it used to be with previous graphic drivers for Windows 98 as it fixes the issue of the screen being stuck with a blinking text mode cursor when exiting a game, notably when using the drivers from VMware Tools.
