Black screen issue in some games

Open rkattar85 opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Hello, Have tested Softgpu with some games under VMware 17 and it worked well for most part. However had been facing black screen issue for few other games. The details are given below:

  1. Mig Alley - The menus are fine. However after entering the game, getting a black screen. The music and sounds play. Able to press action keys but a blank screen.

  2. MDK - Getting a black screen right from before the start of splash screen. It includes the menus and the gameplay as well. Can hear sounds alone.

  3. Captain Quazar - There is black screen during the playing of cutscenes. Also the game window is not centred (not present in lower left). Similar to issue 15.

  4. Men in Black - The game intro cut scenes work. After this, there is black screen right from the menu selection. Can hear sounds alone.

Thank you for your efforts.

Hello,

  1. Mig Alley: works for me (maybe try newest version, there was some fixed issues in Wine and with rendering to window)
  2. MDK + 4. Men in Black, doesn't work in Wine, but works with software rendering, you can do it by apply this registry patch:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\DDSwitcher]
"mdk95.exe"="system"
"mib.exe"="system"

I also added these games to compatibility list so, if you install latest version of SoftGPU, installer will automatically adds these registry keys.

  1. Captain Quazar: I'm able to run this game but is too fast to be playtable. I'm afraid that needs emulator (DOSBox-X) :-(

Hello, Thank you for your response and update. Had installed the latest version of Softgpu. Was able to get MDK and Men in Black working. The registry entries above were automatically added. However, for some reason still facing the same issue with Mig Alley. Black screen after entering the game (menus are fine as usual). Tried switching to Software mode as well as the resolutions, but still the same issue. My system specs are as follows if it helps: Intel i5-2400, GTX 970, DP67BA, Win 8.1. Thanks!
