Endogenizing GDP mode in GCAM V7
I conducted two different configurations using the same SSP (Shared Socioeconomic Pathways) scenarios, and I can confirm that the endogenizing GDP mode was enabled in both cases.
First, I examined the 'socioeconomic' section, specifically the 'GDP per capita PPP by region,' under the model interface. I found that these values were the same between the two scenarios.
However, I observed differences when analyzing the 'Social Accounting Matrix' tab. This raised a question regarding my understanding of the endogenizing GDP mode in GCAM.
For instance, if we have a GDP equation: GDP = A + B In Scenario 1, we have: GDP1 = A1 + B1 And in Scenario 2: GDP2 = A2 + B2
Is it accurate to say that the Endogenizing GDP mode does not calculate a new GDP(nothing to do with prescribed GDP) but rather computes the different compositions of a prescribed GDP? In other words, even if we use two different configurations with the same prescribed GDP input XML (GDP1 = GDP2), even if A1 is not equal to A2, B1 is not equal to B2, yet A1 + B1 equals B1 + B2?
This could explain why 'GDP per capita PPP by region values are the same but differ in the 'Social Accounting Matrix.'
Is my understanding correct?
