MouseControlUtil not working properly

Environment: Linux Mint 19.1, Netbeans 10.0, JDK11, JavaFX11, JFXtrasLabs 10.0 Following this video with identical code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9XjA5eRUrE, the rectangle appears as expected, but the first drag event causes it to expand to fill the scene completely. Thereafter subsequent mouse drags cause it to shrink proportional to the mouse distance. Also, rectangle movement is constrained by the right and bottom boundaries, but not the left or top.

As @tbee already pointed out this is experimental code. Even worse, it was designed for JavaFX8. Can you provide a minimal "working" example (preferably single .java-File) that demonstrates the problem?
