non-working & duping signs from other mods

Description

when I try to put a sign from any other mod that adds signs, the server does not allow me to make an entry on it and is duplicated to my inventory

Step to reproduce

1. add any mod that adds custom plates. for example the twilight forest
2. join to the server
3. try to place these signs somewhere in the world

I too am experiencing this with farmers delight signs. No clue how it's happening or how to fix
