Compact GUI crashed when compressing and it corrupted my files

I'm using CompactGUI.mono 4.0 beta 6.

when i was trying to compress my 42.2GB folder with ISO files(yeah those Burnt CD files) the compact GUI suddenly frozen and had no response status for 5 minutes and crashed

then i tried to re-open the app but it didn't opened

so i restarted my computer and suddenly the compressing seems finished (the file's size was dramatically reduced to only 17.1GB) but ISO files were completely bricked

so i tried to decompress it... but it won't work Pressing Uncompress button did nothing at all

it's most likely my computer's issue but i'm curious that is there any similar issues like this?

get your ISOs uncompressed back. you should have a backup. obviously they got corrupted the compression crashed

It probably is your PC or Windows (since CompactGUI just uses the Windows API), but just in case: when you say it was frozen, was it the progress bar that was frozen? Did you click Pause or Cancel before it froze?

If you open the folder in Windows Terminal, type compact /s and see what the output says for all your files. Typing compact /s /u /exe might help fix them if they're stuck.

Usually, even if CompactGUI freezes, the underlying filesystem API that does the compression/uncompression keeps going to avoid data corruption
