Email in spam, future date

Friends, Doesn't GO use received: for the date shown?

In the spam box, it labels an email as "tomorrow".

Today is the 7th of march.

Thanks

The date you are seeing, is the internal date. I am not sure why this date is in the (then) future, but as this message is not very trustworthy, I suspect that some headers were messed with on the outgoing server. Either that or the mail was actually sent from New Zealand and you do have a huge difference in time.

Thanks. But doesn't GO used received time and not the header one? It was many days off. Not first time it happens.

I sent the EML.

The date you are seeing, is the internal date as linked above from the email headers.

As far as I can see in the email message itself, the message date is April 7 instead of March 7th. If the received date is Aprll 8, the difference is just one day. If I open the message in my Thunderbird email client, I see the same: the date is April 7, whereas the date of April 8 is shown in the right top:

Again, not sure why the time difference between the message date and received date is so big. In my case, the received date has an exact 12 hour difference with the message date, which would match the .nz email address (New Zealand, exact 12 hour difference with Netherlands).

BTW, You can display both dates in the message grid if you like.

Thanks.

AFAIK, the default in GO is the date/time in RECEIVED line not the header, correct?

In TB I see 7/10 on the left side. It just mentions the "header date", less trustable, on the right side.

In GO, I see 8/10.

So TB shows, my default, the received line date, which makes more sense, imho.

Can't GO show the received line date? AFAIK, thats how it works with inbox, at least.

Received: from mega.nz (111-70-16-39.emome-ip.hinet.net [111.70.16.39]) by mx.emailarray.com (Haraka/2.8.21) with ESMTP id FD5DD95E-F3FE-41C5-9ED2-DDA4F9283149.1 envelope-from [email protected]; Thu, 07 Apr 2022 09:25:19 -0400

Im GMT-3 in my profile.

Thanks.

So, I mean, GO should ideally never say a message arrived "tomorrow". It didn't.

Strange, as if Im GMT-3.

RECEIVED LINE by mx.emailarray.com (Haraka/2.8.21) with ESMTP id FD5DD95E-F3FE-41C5-9ED2-DDA4F9283149.1 envelope-from [email protected]; Thu, 07 Apr 2022 09:25:19 -0400

So subtract 1 hour, april 7th 9:25h.

And header date Date: Thu, 07 Apr 2022 22:10:14 -0800

Subtract 5 hours, so April 7th, 5 PM.

So why it shows April 8th?

TB shows april 7th on the left side/main view. it shows april 8th on top right only. Again, not sure why.

Yes, im aware I can add the send date, but I was hoping for best possible default, so this wouldnt happen, just a bit strange, to label an email as Tomorrow.

Thanks.

I fixed this by changing the default date to the internal date
