CYGWIN does not size Interlisp WIndow correctly on laptop

Open skaisler1 opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

after starting Medley on my laptop, the screen looks lie thi CYGWIN-Problem s:

There is no ttile bar so it seems CYGWIN guessed wrong.

I tried running medley 1400x800 this worked to resize the screen to 1400x800. But, the Medley logo does not appear. as seen in the file below. Indeed, clicking the right mouse button doe not produce the Exec menu, e.g., nothing happens.

run-medley-1400x800

I edited run-medley to change geometry to 1400x800 and screensize to 1400x800. Saved it, and retried medley.bat.

ON Windows 11, it does not resize correctly. It still has the behavior shown in the first file above.

ON Windows 10, the window resizes correctly to 1400x800.

Steve,

I cannot replicate this on any of my Windows 11 instances.

To resize the Medley window in Windows/Cygwin, you should use the standard -g (or --geometry) argument. For example, PS C:\Users\Frank\il40> .\medley -e -a -g 1400x1000. There should be no reason to edit medley.bat, medley.sh or run-medley to accomplish the screen resize.

(To see the documentation for this, execute .\medley --man.)

Note that the Medley created scrollbars don't seem to work in Medley/Cygwin - probably because this functionality is not implemented in the sdl version of Maiko. This means that the --geometry and/or --screensize arguments to .\medley might be off by as much as 22 pixels from what you specify. This is in addition to adjustments made for the fact that screenwidths in Medley need to be a multiple of 32.
