Website review 11/17/2023
These are review comments on the current website 11/17/2023
- [x] The subtitle "a futureistic software system" still appears in all caps. It should be all lower case.e
- [ ] THe top bar right justification winds up cutting off all but "History Project Software" and chopping off "Get INvoved Github and Search this site".
- [x] the page footer still as a twitter bird instead of X.
- [ ] the email link in the page footer is to "[email protected]". I don't think we want newcomers to post complaints on email. [email protected] was set up for this.
- [x] Maybe this isn't the start of a new chapter in computing! I like modesty better.
- [x] https://interlisp.org/history/ the link to "Interlisp Timeline" is garbage, as is the Publications link in the main body.
- [x] "are now of historical nature" leav`s me scratching my head.
- [x] https://interlisp.org/history/publications/ has only 2 links in it. Why not just add a header with a pointer to zotero.com at the head of the Zotero direct bibliography
- [ ] The table derived from Zotero is missing important information -- include the date and genre (report, video, web site, etc.)
- [x] you can put the link to Zotero at top of our copy and get rid of the duplication
- [x] https://interlisp.org/history/timeline/
- [x] in Memoriam -- i'm leaning toward removing it after all, or merging it into the "our stories" page somehow
- [x] The History pageno longer features the ACM Software System Award
- [x] there are some interesting documents in https://github.com/masinter/Masinter.github.io that are not linked. "1981 symbolics-offer.pdf" and 1984-old-old.mail.txt for example.
... more later
Cool, did Symbolics plan or carry out Interlisp work?
The link to the glossary on the main page has an extra "medley/" in it.
@Kirtai Thanks for pointing that out. PR 172 fixes the issue.
Here are the outstanding tasks:
- THe top bar right justification winds up cutting off all but "History Project Software" and chopping off "Get INvoved Github and Search this site".
- the email link in the page footer is to "[email protected]". I don't think we want newcomers to post complaints on email. [email protected] was set up for this.
- The table derived from Zotero is missing important information -- include the date and genre (report, video, web site, etc.)
The site is now more responsive and in most cases no longer crops the links in the header as reported in item 1. PR #291 dealt with 2. Item 3 is subsumed by other issues such as #2104 and the ongoing work on the landing pages of bibliography entries.
