Add links to IRM and Primer from Medley Online - both from main menu and within Medley
the IRM has multiple editions and it isn't clear which is which. I think there's the version in docs that you get when HELPSYS is invoked (seem to be in your documentation links).
From online, I link to the same IRM that's linked to from the interlisp.org website (on the https://interlisp.org/doc/info/Using.html page). I believe it is the PDF of the 1993 Venue version (without index and with a messed up TOC).
I am not sure how this version of the IRM relates to the HELPSYS "manual" which appears to be driven off of TEDIT files stored in the Medley repo.
It would be helpful to catalog the various editions of the IRM that we have online, with sufficient and correct metadata. Include documents at BitSavers and Internet archives. Watch out for poorly compressed PDFs of scanned pages though. Maybe as a (sub)collection on Zotero? Links from the Internet history timeline?
The website Lispm.de archives an impressive and eclectic collection of Lisp documents, some of which of potential interest to the Medley Interlisp project including IRM:
- LOOPS
- Lisp Language Manuals: various IRM editions (search for
interlisp) - UI: IRM Vol. 3 (search for
interlisp), LOOPS primer (search forloops)
We have or cite or link to documents in many places (update add Zotero)
- In Zotero
- in Google Drive
- in Medley repo (mainly in docs plus lispusers .TEDIT files )
- in the web site (by Interlisp.github.io)
- in various other repos
In Zotero is one of
- a. iN Zotero bibliography direct
- b. in Zotero bibliography linked to real doc
- c. in Zotero linked to a paywall landing page
What's the complete policy for what goes where? File characteristics:
- do we intend to update it and keep it up to date Updated documents belong in the same repo as the software it goes with. Exceptions are documents that cross repositories.
- is it useful for current users
- is it useful for historical information Old IRMs or links to them? Can we get some way to serve files from our Zotero? (@AbeJellinek) but we should be careful about document copyright for things that don't come from venue/envos
- does it establish any dates
I compiled a preliminary partial catalog of IRM editions in their various forms to identify the most recent or complete. I checked out all the known Interlisp repos and archives except for the CHM PARC archives, which I'll check.
The publications listed below are complete and contain all parts unless otherwise noted.
