Donut: Lip Service InnerSource
Pattern Donut Idea: “The ‘F’-you InnerSource project” - Where a team says they are innersource because you can ‘simply send us a pull request!’ but they don’t provide avenues for actual ramp-up, friendly community interactions, places to ask questions (and get them answered), documentation to learn, etc. As told to: Nick Yeates
Do we want to give this a perhaps more politically correct pattern name? E.g., Simply send us a pull request!
Yes we can change it. Brainstorming ideas: Ironic pull request. Empty community. Newbie unfriendly. Any others before we make it a PR?

What about "we're overloaded, send us a pull request"
I like that it really defines the truth of the accepted team that is defined by “we’re overloaded”. However I also feel a sense of empathy to the code submitters, where as the previous name implies a sense of “I don’t care, throw it over the wall”.
Did I read too much into that? Clint

These are both better names than I gave - thanks! I agree that "I don't care, throw it over the wall" carries more of the tone I detected. Becky?
How about "Lip service InnerSource"?
Oooh I like that. +1

Hey, InnerSourcerers!
If the intent behind this Donut reflects @NewMexicoKid's "Lip Service InnerSource," then that's pretty good. Alternatives might be:
- Insincere InnerSource or
- Sham InnerSource
- Disingenuous InnerSource Project
"F*** you InnerSource" feels more pernicious, though. Maybe
- Unprepared InnerSource
- Ill-equipped InnerSource Project/Team
- Slapdash InnerSource
Anyway, I've been eager to jump into the fray. Sincerely 😄.
+1 for Lip service InnerSource
@NewMexicoKid some comments in this thread sound like you had previously talked or written about something called "Lip Service InnerSource". Is there any video or writeup that I can check out?
Even a bare-bones PR for a 1-initial to see if it makes it to 1-inital might help here. Can still close that one. There's enough content here to copy/paste one based on it I guess.
@NewMexicoKid I wondering if this discussion here would lead more to an anti-pattern, than a pattern?
I think this is more of a pattern than an anti-pattern; or it might (at this stage) be more of a donut pattern exercise, since I don't believe that we had ever gotten to the point of having a solution to the "lip service IS" problem. That is, the state of having "lip service IS" is the starting context and not where one wants to stay. Probably having an interactive session with experts could tease out a useful pattern (I would be surprised if this situation hasn't occurred and been solved).
@spier had asked:

Unfortunately, I did a search and didn't turn up any notes. I think that the whole conversation is in this PR (unless @nyeates remembers something more).
I like the idea of using this as a Donut exercise. Maybe something to try out next year. Will keep the issue open, to remember the idea in the future.
