Based on how the card is acting there apears some setting in the bios related to stock fan max rpm that is not in the editor, i want to edit this for using a different cooling solution than stock i changed the fan speeds and max rpm in the editor, but my fan speed will not go below 1000 rpm (this is 60%)

Are you sure your card can run with 0 RPM? Some of them doesn't have this "silent" option. Have you tried lower the RPM in Afterburner or something like that? Is it working?

The fan i had hooked up when i made this post is rated 400 RPM to 1500 RPM, using the vbios fan curve there is no way to have the card run at a lower speed it is like the card is setting a min target RPM (not pwm)

The card officially supports 0 RPM, but i have replaced the entire cooling solution so i wanted a new fan curve otherwise the fans will never spin up and cool the VRM, the min PWM % is ignored, it is set to 20% in the editor but the PWM output never goes below 30% even when the core is sub 30 this is when i have 0 RPM mode disabled in wattman, with the upgrades i made i have 2 fans, one does not support 0 RPM mode, and will run at 100% when it sees 0 on the PWM input, i would really like a checkbox to turn 0 RPM mode off in the vbios (i am not using crap fans that were not designed to run all the time)

due to what seems to be min rpm issue i have a fan splitter on the card and have a NF-A4x10 PWM fan hooked up to the sense wire so i get reasonable pwm % as that fan is rated 1000 PRM to 5000RPM, but the min PWM 20% is ignored, and it will not spin below 1500RPM my guess is there was a conflict between a max PWM and min RPM using the 400-1500rpm fan that let me get 1100rpm

There appears to be some fan controls that are not exposed in the editor, possibly the following

  • 0 RPM mode: enable/disable
  • Min FAN RPM (this must me overriding min PWM)

Here are the vBIOS files i have, along with tweaking stuff gigabyte_RX_580.zip

At present in Linux to get proper voltages i am using overclocking tools, so it does not hit the power limit and cranks out about 20W less and runs higher clock speeds (1411Mhz / 1131 mV; auto does 1340 / 1200 mV) for what ever reason my 580 nitro plus does not get 1.2v in linux on auto and gets the correct voltage
