as the label list grows (which IMO it must ), this will get harder to use ; The chances of people being able to find a requested object around them is low, and it will take a long time to scroll through to find the right one.

My suggestion is for this to default to anything, so someone can safely submit an image instantly... no barrier to casual contribution..

you could then rely more on the add labels UI for people to classify - the fact you have a common label selection there is great (that could be dynamic, e.g if an image has no labels, you start with broad categories & scene labels, and if the image has a scene label you could show the common objects for that scene) .

You could make 'add labels' show 'anything' submissions first, to ensure they get classified as early as possible

If your task list was ever empty, you could default to showing people that page .

One thing I've been doing (which I'm keen to escape) is having to choose a single label when you have a scene (my most common image is really city street) .. being abe to specify a label on upload IS useful, but it would be much better if it was reserved for a dominant whole image description (i.e you say it represents 'car' if it really is a focussed picture of a car -> then you want to go and annotate the car parts). Having to pick one object as a task when the image has no single subject seems almost misleading, or at least missing an opportunity to more accurately describe the nature of the whole image

summary upload label could guides tasks, without being a task?

upload an image which represents city street -> default tasks = road, pavement, building, car, person, litter bin, sky

upload an image which represents car -> default tasks: car wheel, car door, headlight, car windscreen, car license plate ...

upload an image which represents person -> default tasks = head/person, hand/person, foot/person etc

..and so on
