Do you want to expand the UI translation?

It's not essential, but if you'd like a user interface translation, I've made a small repro with a German ts-File.

Hi @arakel2 - thank you for that!

I'll say that I'm definitely interested in more UI translations (particularly Arabic and Farsi, but all are welcome). However at this point in time, I'm not comfortable accepting translations for languages I don't personally speak into the master source tree. There are still relatively frequent string changes happening, and to reduce regressions the project will need things like a string freeze period before releases. IMO the project is not quite ready for that yet.

Short term - I'd like to make it easier to have additional translation files out-of-tree (like your repository) by making it possible to drop *.qm files into an existing installation.

Longer term - I'll look into setting up something like a Weblate instance to allow continuous maintenance of translations by interested parties that will ship with Katvan releases.

Hi Igor,

I completely understand your reasoning and decision. I'm pleased that the possibility of translation is planned for the future.

Cheers

@arakel2 As of version 0.11.0, it is possible to drop in extra *.qm files (and have them picked up by the application):

  1. In Linux, by placing them in ~/.local/share/katvan/translations (except Flatpak)
  2. In Windows, by placing them in the translations sub-directory of the Katvan installation / unzipped directory.

A translation site is still planned, but won't happen soon.
