Add Oracle Linux section to documentation
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
We receive questions about how to install Icinga 2 on Oracle Linux. People seem to be confused, which packages and documentation fits.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a section for Oracle Linux just like for RedHat or Debian. I think it's totally fine to not copy the steps from RHEL but just refer to the RHEL part of the documentation. I guess it would help if the Oracle part would be just the same level as RHEL and not a short footnote like ("This also applies to Oracle Linux"), so if someone browses the docs they should find it without using the find function of their browser.
If the need for changes for Oracle arise in the future then there would already be a section ready to hold the differences.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Well, replying to our customers: "Just use the RHEL related docs". But this would not cover users who won't open a ticket for it.
Additional context
None.
Great idea!

Imagine they compile it from source.. 😱

Apologies for hopping in here but do we actually support Oracle Linux? For me, adding official installation docs on icinga.com implies as if we do officially support it. Maybe I don't have that context to judge that correctly, but wouldn't that argument pretty much apply to any other distro that claims to be "RHEL compatible"?

Yes we do - take a look at the footnotes here: https://icinga.com/subscriptions/support-matrix/
I can imagine that we could update our website to show more clearly that we support Oracle Linux, Rocky, Alma, etc., and also mention this somewhere in the docs. However, I would not add separate chapters to our product installation docs.
