List View, with file name option

Open IndomitableAlbus opened this issue 1 year ago • 8 comments

Hi Dev, came across your App through r/androidapps Subreddit.

The Apps great, really clean and minimal.

Please can I make a feature request, thank you.

The addition of a list view with optional displaying of file names on the thumbnails.

Also, please can you add an option to display file names on the existing grid view thumbnails.

That's it, thanks.

That feature doesn't fit into a widespread needs of a gallery user IMHO

I'm not sure I agree with that statement, sounds like a cop out to me. Many Gallery users have images of similar type but not the same and the file name listing is essential to identify between them.

I would ask you to brush up on your coding skills and rethink about adding the feature, or run the risk of being left behind by more comprehensive Apps.

Gallery is not a file explorer app, there is no need for a special view with thumbnails and some formats

Your obviously not going to listen to reason on this and your attitude is not one I look for in a Dev.

Ignoring end user feature requests could end up costing you your Apps reputation but if your not willing to listen then your Apps not for me so I will be uninstalling.

I wish you all the best for the future.

I think you misunderstood, I am the app developer

Also regarding the feature request:

This is a Gallery app, so the users want to see the photos and videos they have, but this is also a community driven app, that's why I'm glad to see any feature requests, because even some features might not be used by the majority of the users, some might still want to and by giving them the opportunity to get what they want and use in a single app.

Your feature will be added to the roadmap.

Won't it make the app bloated File managers - even the aosp one does the same thing with more options to rename the file directly also a thumbnail Why would a gallery app need it? @IacobIonut01 BTW a suggestion for you mate Your app is really awsome - I also suspect this is the apps spoken in the GrapheneOS community being an alternative to AOSP Gallery for GOS. In that case I think this is very important Please don't listen to random feature requests that ask for niche features- the end result wouldn't be nice. A great example would be Thunderbird. Please keep the app minimal and try to mimic google photos - why? - coz its the only gallery app that matches very well with androids overall design. So do the same whatever you have been doing now pls don't add many so called "features" - simple gallery is available for those needs Please make this app like a true google photos alternative.

Thanks for you kind words, and about the feature requests: I think they should be listen to because even some might be a niche feature, it's great if you can find the app fit exactly your needs without impacting others, that's why I'm still going to add this not-so-used feature as an optional switch, under a customisation category for users to mix and match with their needs. But, yeah, I won't ever bloat the app with 'features'

The design will always be as minimal and consistent as possible, that's why (beside my limited free time) some features takes longer than expected (ex: editing photos).

The purpose of this app was initially to be the modern, open-source replacement of the Gallery Go by Google, but as you can see there's also cloud sync on the roadmap, so at the end we can call it a Photos alternative as well, I hope it will be
