Explain in the guides that Dataverse supports the FAIR Data Principles
I just met with @sbarbosadataverse @cmbz @kmika11 and @jggautier and floated the idea of adding content to the guides about how Dataverse supports the FAIR Data Principles. They liked the idea.
One of the problems I'm trying to solve is that https://dataverse.org/software-features lists "Support for FAIR Data Principles" as the number one feature but links to a talk that's over four years old.
Instead, like every other feature, it would be nice if the "more information" link went to the guides, which we are always updating. Here's a screenshot of how the features page looks:
@Falco-KUB just kicked off a thread called Dataverse and the FAIR Principles where he announced a new doc he created by the same name.
In my reply I suggested that we gather comments and feedback in the doc, here in this issue, and in the email thread with an eye toward making a pull request to create a section of the Dataverse guides that talks about support for FAIR.
thanks, I wasn't aware of this issue
@Falco-KUB @pdurbin I'll be glad to add feedback and comments to the doc.
promise to read and provide feedback, as this is very important!
I just added a "help wanted" label to this issue.
@Falco-KUB do you want to create a pull request based on your doc above?
Or if not, maybe someone else could create a pull request?
I'm looking for someone who is familiar with FAIR and confident writing about it.
Unfortunately, the PDF we link to now shows an error. This is the user experience when you click "More Information" under "Support for FAIR Data Principles" at https://dataverse.org/software-features:
For now, we should probably figure out what happened to https://scholar.harvard.edu/mercecrosas/presentations/fair-guiding-principles-implementation-dataverse and update the link.
Longer term, it would be nice to incorporate information about FAIR into the guides themselves.
