This should be fairly simple by continuing to use markdown and using the mkdocs engine (instead of sphinx) to build the pages.

Or do we really want to use rst?

i think we should probably stick with markdown, unless there's a really compelling argument to switch

I think gitbook might be a better way to go here (probably at the next release)
