Provide correct mimetype syntax
We should use the vendor subtype I believe and get inspiration from:
https://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/media-types.xhtml
A search on google (for "MIME type for HDF 5") shows (in the Background section) this: application/x-hdf5
I've seen the following as well:
application/x-hdf;subtype=bag
Do you think these are relevant (related ?) ? Note that the above media types are not registered at IANA.
The vendor tree (vnd prefix) can be used. But According to https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6838#section-3.2 (see below) the prefix can be either be a product (a tool) or the producer's name.
Vendor-tree registrations will be distinguished by the leading facet "vnd.". That may be followed, at the discretion of the registrant, by either a media subtype name from a well-known producer (e.g., "vnd.mudpie") or by an IANA-approved designation of the producer's name that is followed by a media type or product designation (e.g., vnd.bigcompany.funnypictures).
If we choose to go for a vendor specific media type then the following option can be adopted for "application/h5":
- application/vdn.hdf5.bbp.morphology
Thoughts ? @jdcourcol @genric @apdavison
The vendor and the product can be switched actually:
- application/vdn.bbp.hdf5.morphology
I am ok with application/vdn.bbp.hdf5.morphology
