Need an updated fresh install checklist
Update documents. Add a install checklist for new installations.
- Exchange rates
- Fiscal Year
- New users
- Permissions
- etc?
The installation process currently configures your enterprise name, the projects, your username + password, and some basic super user permissions. This proposal is to update the installation procedure to allow users to configure their application to a near-functional state from the installation screen. These would be additional, optional steps. They include:
- Setting the exchange rates for the new currencies
- Configuring the fiscal year of the enterprise.
- Importing the chart of accounts.
- Importing a list of inventory items.
- Importing a list of stock items.
- Importing the list of employees.
- Adding in additional users + permissions.
... if we had all these elements, with templates pre-generated for each "import" step, we could easily set up institutions by filling out Excel forms prior to the configuration, then importing them into BHIMA in a single step.
I'll tackle this.
I wonder if instead of an "new install checklist", we need to just have an installation script that either prompts or generates each of these for a user. @jmcameron what would you think of just building this into our installation process?

I like this. Then we can have one for Ubuntu and one for Debian (and others later if desired).
