Reporting medications prescribed but not delivered
When medications are prescribed for a patient, BHIMA creates an invoice with the desired items. Then the patient goes to the stock pharmacy and the pharmacy staff does a stock exit to patient using the invoice. However, if a medication that was requested is out of stock, it is important to inform someone that the patient was not able to receive some of the prescribed medications. Exactly how this should be done should be considered further and discussed with production site staff to determine the best approach.
However, in the mean time, it would be useful to put together a new stock report that lists medications that were prescribed but not delivered. This will require checking posted invoices (invoices processed by stock exits) and checking quantities of each item actually delivered vs requested and tabulating the results. The report could include date range, depot, posted vs unposted, exclude unposted invoices, etc, for search parameters.
This report could be very useful for personnel managing ordering of stock to get a clear idea of what stock articles have been requested but are out of stock. Some overall metrics could include number of requested stock articles, number of delivered stock articles, number of patients involved, and % of invoiced items delivered (vs requested).
Note that this Issue may be related to https://github.com/IMA-WorldHealth/bhima/issues/6413 and https://github.com/IMA-WorldHealth/bhima/issues/6557.
I can see this broken into two categories:
- Invoiced but not in stock, so unable to fulfill.
- Invoiced and never collected from the pharmacy.
It might also be useful to compare the total number of medications distributed versus those invoiced, and look at the statistics of those are that are distributed more than they are invoiced. That might show some interesting information as well.
