Verbal Message for SMS Code
Hi all,
There was an initial idea of using stickers for volunteers to attach to the back of their phones to remind them of the correct way send an SMS. However, we are finding that text is not always the best way to communicate with volunteers in Pilot Country due to this being an aural/oral culture.
I would like to suggest we develop a voice mail type function to remind the volunteer of the structure of how to send an SMS using the local language. This would remind them of the structure of the SMS and what number to send the message to.
It might be worth keeping this in mind for future developments to think about a voice recorded directory on reporting on the phones (like they use for online banking etc in many countries already) rather than relying on everything being through text.

In short yes.
The way I would envisage this is as a menu based system just like phone banking.

What do you think? I will discuss this again with SRCS today to see if they see any value in it but my thoughts at this point are: most collectivistic cultures have an aural basis to their cultures and therefore don’t absorb written information as well as aural communication. This feature would likely be used again for alternate sites.
