gain image not found when using soft links

Describe the bug gain image not found when using soft links?

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to import movies
2. Set gain file to '~/beegfs2/data/relion3/Movies/gain.mrc'
3. Execute
4. See error Gain file not found.

Gain does exist. The protocol works if I provide full path only: /lmb/home/gsharov/beegfs2/data/relion3/Movies/gain.mrc
