[SM64DS] Audio static / crackling

Open EnchantedTorch opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Tested on latest build. The rolling balls in Bob-omb Battlefield seem to create a static-like noise not seen on native hardware. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7T9Jdd7Vps

Weird, I actually can't reproduce this. I was going to suggest it might be an issue with the game's surround sound effect, because I had an issue with that before. It might be some weird audio driver shenanigans? I'll try to test on Windows when I get a chance.

Further testing seems to show that the effect is not limited to just that sound and seems to only occur after either a certain length of playtime or after enough different sound effects have been played. I can't claim to have any knowledge on how this works so my assumptions could be way off. Here's a link to the full session of me recreating the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW66LdWRRKk (The first signs of the issue start showing when leaving JRB at around 6:10. The effect is most noticable with the jingle that plays when re-entering the castle and the rolling ball sounds in BOB.)

Thanks for the thorough testing on this! I can indeed reproduce it after a while of playtime. No clue what could be causing it though.
