Can no longer bulk compress directories properly, plus file sizes on lossless aren't reduced

Open SonicBoone56 opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

After changing to a new PC and installing the latest version of Curtail (1.12.0), I can no longer bulk compress directories and lossless compression no longer works correctly. Plus it never finishes the process. I left it on overnight and it only managed to compress 3 folders before giving up.

Curtail troubleshooting info: Python: 3.12.3

Gtk: 4.16.7

Jpegoptim: 1.4.7

Oxipng: 9.1.4

pngquant: 2.18.0

Libwebp: Version not found

Scour: 0.38.2

Hello! Can you add more details about I can no longer bulk compress directories and lossless compression no longer works correctly." please? What do you see for lossless sizes? Thanks.

On the old versions my images would go from somewhere near 1+MB to only a few 100KB. Now the file size pretty much stays the same or reduces by a few KB at most. So basically it went from a 40-80% reduction in file size to 0-2%.

Version 1.13.0 is being released with multi-threading and OxiPNG 9.1.4. @SonicBoone56 could you do a new test once 1.13.0 will be available (in a couple of hours on flathub)?

I've tried multiple different ways to install the latest version and it refuses to launch. I can't tell if it's my fault or not. Apparently Ubuntu isn't a fan of flatpak packages and for whatever reason the beta version on the Ubuntu store doesn't work. I couldn't figure out how to launch the program via manually installing it through Github commands listed.
