Does this still happen on newer releases? This specific crash was usually caused by unsatisfied dependencies and was fixed in the next build, where it would show a proper error...
The logs were silenced sometime during 1.17. The question is: do we backport that change?
This should probably be properly exposed to the template system, not just as some random interface inside the internals?
I just added recipe lookup support for 1.18, but no favorites yet because JEI doesn't have any api for adding them, will add when that is doable without reaching into...
I cannot reproduce this with just Patchouli, which is horribly annoying. I guess I could prepare some build with extra spammy logging for testing purposes for you?
