Logging mechanism

Does rpi-update have any logging mechanism, or is it directly to stdout? I went through the README, but couldn't find any.

Wouldn't it be good to have a temporary log of the rpi-updates in /var/log/, going forward, for debugging purposes? Please correct me if I'm wrong, or have overlooked any already present solution.

Not only temporary, but also for later. I am currently have problems with the new kernel and would love to go back to the old kernel version i had, but dont know which one it was!
