Game from GOG won't update/takes unusually long to update

Describe the bug

I start updating a game from GOG. And it stays at 1% for a unusually long time. Compared to downloading a new game. It may be with just the one game but it hasn't successfully updated whenever I tried.

Expected behavior

Update at a reasonable pace, or just update at all

If I delete and uninstall, heroic installs the game in a few seconds. If I update the game it takes forever and doesn't download. I've only tested with the one game tho

Could you attach gog logs from Heroic settings that cover the update?

The two links don't? One is for the heroic launcher and the other is for gog part of it. I thought those were the ones that covered the update. Unless they were an old log

I can confirm this. Tried updating Tomb Raider Remastered multiple times. Update always gets stuck after downloading ~29% (~132 MB). Using Heroic 2.14.1 on Manjaro (package: heroic-games-launcher-bin from AUR, because the stable official sources only offer 2.13). Version 2.13 had the same problem. On a second system (Mint 21.3, Heroic 2.14.1 .deb version) there is the identical problem. See attached logs (first system).

The issue is still there. Since a year I was not able to make any Cyberpunk 2077 update. Everytime update is landing I have to reinstall game.

Can confirm the issue is still there: Experiencing the problem with GOG games, e.g. Baldurs Gate 3, No Man Sky.

Also having this issue with BG3. Logs: heroic gog. Notably, it says that I have consistent 0.5 MiB down, but the progress does not go up, and the warning message Chunk download failed, reason FailReason.CHECKSUM keeps appearing in the gog logs.

I'm having the exact same problem trying to update Baldurs Gate 3. Same WARNING: Chunk download failed, reason FailReason.CHECKSUM error. Could it be an issue with GOG?

That could be it. I can't see that message when skimming through the logs above. If someone could repro it on the official Windows launcher, that'd be helpful.

I have the same problem. Tried to update the latest Baldur's Gate 3 patch (90MB or so) and was stuck at 36%. Log show this:

Somewhere else I read uninstalling the game and reinstalling it solves the problem. Unfortunately not. Now I am stuck with the same problem but for the whole game. No gaming for me today I guess.

The checksum thing is a GOG issue, people with Galaxy also report this problem

Thanks for the info. Ig this is an orthogonal issue then.

EDIT: looks like BG3 issue was fixed: https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_3/notice_regarding_failed_updates_to_the_latest_version_of_the_game. Can confirm it's working on my machine. If someone could mark these last few comments as "off-topic" so they're hidden, that'd be great.
