It's not clear why the DXVK option is unclickable when that happens

Open arielj opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug

When the Autoinstall VKD3D option is enabled, the Autoinstall DXVK option is "unclickable" ('disabled" in the HTML terms), but it's not clear why it's unclickable.

It can be noticed when clicking those options, but it's easy to miss and there's no indication on how to make it "clickable" again.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to a game's settings
  2. Enable DXVK
  3. Enable VKD3D
  4. The DXVK option is not clickable

Expected behavior

There should be some indication that the options are related and how to make it functional.

Another option is to allow the option to be toggled off but with a also disable VKD3D with the same action.

Additional information

The DXVK-NVAPI option might need a similar treatment?

maybe we can fix this by showing some kind of message when the user hovers over the disabled checkbox. I think dxvk-nvapi also requires dxvk so we can give that similar treatment as well.

I'd rather just allow disabling DXVK and make it disable VKD3D and DXVK-NVAPI at the same time.

That way you don't need to read the reason and the visual feedback is clear. Like...:

  • you have DXVK and VKD3D enabled
  • you disable DXVK
  • VKD3D gets disabled too automatically (so you learn they are connected and that this one requires the other)

we can save the user some times and we skip the need of more copy and translations
