Problem with compiling

Is there a reason when compiling you can only use the version thats given in the files? I was trying to compile with my own version but it never launched. I'm trying to get around the sharpness/compressed filter thats put over the game when minimized.

What do you mean? As long as you install rust properly you should be able to compile by just running build.bat
