xtensa-lx106-elf-g++: error: {build.flash_flags}: No such file or directory

it happen from upgrading arduino ide 1.8.5 to 1.8.8

Downgrading to 1.8.5 didn't help.

I was able to flash it finally on 1.8.8 using: NodeMCU 1.0 (ESP-12E Module) Programmer: AVRISP mkII

and usb cable ? arduino core ?

I got this error when I use the old board.txt from arduino ide 1.8.5 in
arduino ide 1.8.8 hardware/esp8266com/esp8266/board.txt

Dont copy and modify the new board.txt arduino ide 1.8.8 like you want.
