GIT install process on Mac OS X Catalina fails in the WiDFi_Kit Shell command steps

I've been unable to install the hardware board manager vie the Arduino IDE on my Mac so I'm not trying the GIT option. When I get to the "git submodule update --init --recursive" command I receive the following error:

fatal: No url found for submodule path 'libraries/AzureIoT' in .gitmodules

This stops my install process. It's getting very frustrating to have both the Arduino Board Manager path and the GitHub path both failing. Please provide a resolution so I can install the board manager an libraries and get coding via the Arduino IDE! HELP
