Using on-device mapsforge maps should be possible, but this looks like it's considerable work. I will not do this (anytime soon), but if someone wants to contribute the necessary code...

You could try [UnifiedNlp](https://github.com/microg/UnifiedNlp#installation), which is only the location provider component of microG. But the standalone app is 6 years old, and didn't work for me when I tried it...
