Checklist

Checklist for quest suggestions (see guidelines):

  • [X] 🚧 To be added tag is established and has a useful purpose
  • [X] 🤔 Any answer the user can give should have an equivalent tagging (SCEE quests may not be answerable in all cases, but please keep this rare)
  • [X] 🐿️ A survey is necessary (may require knowledge of the subject, though easy answering for everyone is preferred)
  • [X] 💤 Not an overwhelming percentage of quests have the same answer (No spam)
  • [X] 🕓 Applies to a reasonable number of map data (Worth the effort)

Ideas for implementation

Element selection: On pedestrian crossings (especially zebra, but applicable to any markings)

Metadata needed: None

Proposed UI: Use pictures from the wiki page above, UI similar to tire valves or kerbs

Welcome, and thanks for your suggestion!

[x] 🚧 To be added tag is established and has a useful purpose

Hmm.... that tag seems to have been introduced just a few months ago, and most (if not all) values seems to be done in a big import / automated edit. While I agree it might have a useful purpose, I'm not so sure it passes the "established" criteria.

Let's see what others think...

Element selection: On pedestrian crossings (especially zebra, but applicable to any markings)

That wiki says that "It is used exclusively on crosswalk nodes with highway=crossing and crossing:markings=zebra/pictograms" (emphasis mine)

So, I'm assuming it would be asked only on nodes with highway=crossing and crossing:markings ~ zebra|pictograms? (and not for "all" possible markings)

If implemented, it would also be good for it to be resurveyed relatively often. Maybe every 2-4 years?

Proposed UI: Use pictures from the wiki page above, UI similar to tire valves or kerbs

That is unfortunately not good enough at the moment. We would need:

  • pictures for missing values too (excellent, good)
  • remaining pictures also should all be of the same size / perspective
  • under compatible license (e.g. on search on commons.wikimedia.org)
  • I've asked for clarification on wiki talk page, that intermediate looks very much like good to me (very close to excellent)
