Request: Add option to allow map rotation
Use case Based on the discussion in https://github.com/streetcomplete/StreetComplete/issues/3022 and https://github.com/streetcomplete/StreetComplete/issues/5844 I would like to suggest to reactivate the rotation and zooming of the map at the same time at least in SCEE. See: https://github.com/Helium314/SCEE/commit/0f574159ab649b8ba05a03e02934b8823e97a0c0
Proposed Solution
- Option number 1: An expert setting for switching on and off
- Option number 2: Disable in SCEE in general (switch to
false)
As already mentioned in 3022, it is obviously not worth creating a setting for it. However, at least in the SCEE environment, hopefully nobody should be bothered by accidentally rotating the map, which would make option 2 possible.
it is obviously not worth creating a setting for it
While adding a preference is extremely rarely (if ever!) an option for StreetComplete (so it may be obvious there), I'd actually find an user preference good choice for this in SCEE.

Well, as the saying goes, "Hope is not a strategy" - see e.g. https://github.com/streetcomplete/StreetComplete/issues/5836 part containing:
Also, why trying to zoom, it is too easy to accidentally rotate screen instead
(And I definitely count myself as an avid SCEE user  )
(also, note that SCEE tries hard to behave by default as close as possible as vanilla StreetComplete, and only override such behaviour if user deliberately changes some SCEE preference to that effect)
Less accidental rotation is something I definitely like about MapLibre. A setting would definitely be the best way to go, considering our different preferences.
The StreetComplete issue:
about this was jus (re-)closed after adjusting some rotation thresholds, so putting my +1 here for a setting forrotating while zooming
Debug .apk with two new settings available at https://github.com/Helium314/SCEE/pull/732 if people want to try it out and provide feedback
@mnalis Should I close this PR here better?
@mnalis Should I close this PR here better?
@mcliquid Ummm, which "PR here" do you mean? This is an issue #620, not a PR? And (unless I'm missing something?) I don't see any other PRs linked than mine (PR #732, which will close this issue automatically if merged).
Can you clarify?
@mnalis nvm, thought this is a PR of mine not an issue.
